Burrata Toast with Toasted Hazelnuts and Honey

Burrata Toast with Toasted Hazelnuts and Honey

This simple yet luxurious toast features creamy burrata cheese complemented by crunchy hazelnuts and sweet honey. The contrast between the creamy cheese, toasty bread, crunchy nuts, and floral honey creates a perfectly balanced bite that's both elegant and comforting.

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 rustic sourdough bread (thick slices)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil (plus more for drizzling)
  • 8 oz fresh burrata cheese (1 ball)
  • 1/3 cup hazelnuts
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • flaky sea salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (freshly ground, to taste)
  • 2 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes until fragrant and skins begin to crack. Remove, let cool slightly, then roughly chop.
  3. While the hazelnuts are toasting, brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bread slices and toast until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the toast and place on a serving plate. Tear the burrata ball into four portions.
  6. Top each toast with a portion of burrata, spreading it slightly.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts over the burrata.
  8. Drizzle each toast with honey and a little extra olive oil.
  9. Season with flaky sea salt and freshly ground pepper.
  10. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves if using and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can rub a clove of garlic on the hot toast before adding the burrata. You can also add a small drizzle of balsamic glaze for a tangy contrast.
