Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cup cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup butter (softened)
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In a large bowl, beat softened butter with both sugars until creamy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
  5. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake 9-10 minutes until edges are set but centers look slightly underdone.
  8. Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Don't overbake—cookies will firm up as they cool. For extra gooey cookies, refrigerate dough 30 minutes before baking.
